Been a while...
Been a while but I haven't quite needed to procrastinate about study as I do now. You'd think it would be easy...it's the last assignment of the year, it's really easy, but I just can't get into it. What makes it worse is that I don't have anything interesting to say here either. Mostly wanted to see what other people were writing, but when the page said "Your last post was 87 weeks ago" I felt guilty. Not a difficult thing for me to do. really. Might not leave it another 87 weeks till the next one either ;) Current Music: If you tolerate this then your children will be next - Manic Street Preachers | | Wednesday, February 1st, 2006 | | 8:55 pm |
I'm Buzzing!!
Oh My Goodness (yes I sound like an old lady but I don't care!) I have just bought my tickets to Australia to compete in the Aust Open for Frisbee!!! YAY how cool is that. Of course that means training and fitness and the like, but that is so at the back of my mind right now! This means I may be having a few bake sales for fundraising...watch this space :) Current Mood: ecstatic | | Friday, January 27th, 2006 | | 7:33 pm |
You don't know what you've got...
Sim's away this weekend and I miss him. I didn't think that it would be that bad, but I was like a child with bad separation anxiety, I must have called him about 5 times today to tell him I love him and I'll miss him, and he hadn't even gone yet! Didn't help that I had bad dreams last night. Probably from my still food poisoney tummy which was nauseous again last night :( Bloody Winnebagoes. NO ONE go there it's not worth it. It's not often when I get sick it makes the paper ;P Anyway, got the first season of Carnivale to watch and lots of baking to do as distraction....fat and happy here I come! Why oh why oh why
I've just spent the last two days in bed with gut wrenching food poisoning (that's probably why I wasn't my usual perky self at the end of the beach party), however there was an up side as i spent my time watching Firefly. What were they thinking when they cancelled it. Any programme that can make me giggle when I feel like puking has got to be good! Anyway, apparently Serenity is coming out on the 8th February, hopefully it won't take another batch of food poisoning to make me lay down and watch it, but roll on the 8th nonetheless ;) Shiny! Thought this was funny...
How things have changed …. A little boy goes to his father and asks, “Daddy, how was I born?” The father answers; “Well, son, I guess one day you will find out anyway! Your Mum and I first got together in a chat room on Yahoo. Then I set up a date via e-mail with your Mum and we met at a cyber-café. We sneaked into a secluded room, where your mother agreed to a download from my hard drive. As soon as I was ready to upload, we discovered that neither one of us had used a firewall, and since it was too late to hit the delete button, nine months later a blessed little pop-up appeared and said: You’ve got Male!” Tee Hee By the way, on a more serious note I just was watching the news and another child has died in foster care! Decided that instead of having children we should look after some of the children who need foster care, can't bear the thought of all these poor children who need love and don't get it! I appeal to all of you to PLEASE think about how you could help these organisations that help children in need (money, blankets, food etc) and give what you can. Thanks all Kisses Current Mood: hopefulCurrent Music: The News | | Monday, January 2nd, 2006 | | 12:10 pm |
Time flies
Hi all, Wow it's been a very busy time since starting the new job. I keep thinking I'll get back to this eventually but I kept getting sidetracked (baking, cleaning, working etc). However I didn't hear any complaints about the baking so at least it's a productive form of distraction. I can think of worse (Xbox & Playstation for example: highly addictive, but really what do you have to show for it at the end except for a sore ass and sore thumbs?!). So my Christmas was great, I ate far too much as I had breakfast with my Sister, lunch with Simeon's family and dinner with mine. Bleargh! Tennis and a run on Christmas night, while sounding horribly energetic was actually very good. Especially as the gym membership has run out, and if I want to go on the road/piss trip in February then I'd better save some money! All the sales that are on at the moment aren't helping though :( and the cricket on too which has to be attended! Likewise New Years was great too. Stayed out far too late till the roosters were crowing (seriously) and it was light outside. But the music was fantastic, so there wasn't really any concept of time. It was midnight, then it was 4am. Huh how did that happen? So back to work on wednesday :( Maybe I can get back to this journal by easter... | | Thursday, October 20th, 2005 | | 10:38 pm |
Tee hee hee
Donald Rumsfeld is giving the President his daily briefing on Iraq. He concludes by saying: "Yesterday, 3 Brazilian soldiers were killed." "OH NO!" the President exclaims. "That's terrible!" His staff sits stunned at this display of emotion, nervously watching as the President sits, head in hands. Finally, President looks up and asks, "How many is a brazillion?" | | Tuesday, October 11th, 2005 | | 9:28 pm |
Thank goodness
Well I am very glad to announce that Disc Wars ended up being a great success, well I thought so anyway, and so did Goldboy who ended up winning the tournament in his first time playing Ultimate...well done :) We even ended up getting some money from NZCT and a large amount of prizes from nice companies such as: Bivouac, Cosmic Corner, Mainland Outdoor and Anderson & Hill Sportspower (yes I am plugging them because they were nice enough to ply us full of stuff and not look at me strangely when I said I played Frisbee!) I did end up getting very sore though as one of the girls and I ran into each others feet as we were going for the zone, and I took the brunt of the fall, as a result my knee is VERY purple (a bruise about the size of an orange...I'm not exaggerating!), and one of the boys on my own team mistook my feet for the floor, and stood, not very gracefully, on them. This is supposed to be a non-contact sport! But for all my whinging I had a lot of fun, and the spirit was fantastic. I'm already planning the next one...now I wonder if we can get funding for a party.... | | Wednesday, October 5th, 2005 | | 1:02 pm |
I feel good :)
I know that this is bragging, but hey, isn't that what a live journal is for (even though lots of people use it for whining, think of this as trying to balance it out), anyway...I went to the gym for my re-assessment, and I have lost 7.5 kilos, and dropped my total body fat 7.5%!!!! Even the trainer was impressed (I know they get paid for it, but nothing's gonna break my spirit here!), so the gym does work! Now, when my gym membership runs out, I have to think about how I need to keep up the physical activity...game of tennis anyone? Current Mood: + elated! | | Monday, October 3rd, 2005 | | 10:29 pm |
I like being on holiday
Well, I am into week three (WEEK THREE! ALREADY!) of my holidays and I am at a really nice point of calm. I feel like Manny in Black Books after he absorbed the "little book of calm" though I don't have as beautiful an aura. I even peeled 500 grams of garlic while watching The Incredibles, to be minced (the garlic, not the incredibles) and put into the freezer, and used as needed, just because I felt like it! Tomorrow I'm making a nice dinner and dessert (Chicken Pilau and Lemon Merengue Pie) for my hard working husband, again, just because I feel like it. I may even go to the Art Gallery and be inspired for when I start painting again next week. I do love holidays....I hope that you all get good holidays soon, they are bliss. Why did I do this?
So I decided that I would TD Disc Wars. It sounded easy. Garet (who used to TD) made it sound simple, and she always got it all together really nicely. I however seem to have a jinx. Firstly, I tried to apply for funding, and the weekend (not week, not a whole seven days, but two) before I put in the application, the rules were changed and our club was no longer eligible. Additionally, we were rejected because our request for 2x 9ft pool tables are not within the funding criteria (PS we asked for t-shirts, I pointed this out to them, then they pointed out our lack of eligibility) Then I re-applied with our amended eligibility, and my application was sent back because there was no deposit slip with it (YES THERE WAS!!!). So I sent the amended application back, complete with deposit slip, but it got lost in the post. Now I have another application form heading into them, but it is now a week and a half until the tournament and I am running out of time, I have tried to talk to their grants commissioner but he seems to be continually in a meeting. Then there was the hassle of the T-Shirts...but I think I've ranted enough. I feel much better now ;) Current Mood: annoyedCurrent Music: Peace and quiet, until I've finished downloadin Red vs Blue | | Monday, September 26th, 2005 | | 8:22 am |
Still smiling
Well, the last ever bordello party has finished two days ago and I'm still smiling. There was a fantastic atmosphere (helped by the wonderful cocktails, thanks gsv), the usual number of traumas that require some help and counseling, but not too many as to make it a real downer on the night as a whole. Staying till the "fuck-off" music was played (and we were actually asked to leave too tee hee hee) was a good thing, but also a shock, because I couldn't believe that it had gotten to be 4:30am that quickly. I believe this was due to the fantastic music (again, thanks gsv), and company. Thanks to all that were there making it so much fun, lets do it again sometime soon ;) Current Mood: contentCurrent Music: The water pump for my fish tank | | Friday, September 23rd, 2005 | | 2:39 pm |
Ready to PARTY!!!
The last ever Bordello party tonight and I am ready to PARTY! I have a feeling we may miss out on the cocktail hour what with being at Ultimate, but thats okay, I'm sure we can smile sweetly and beg for more to be made. I hope everyone has their dancing shoes ready. I have been wanting a decent boogie for a while, and I'm gonna make the most of tonight! See you all there.... Even my mother doesn't love me :(
So I said to my mother that I'd come around today and we could do crafty (as in make scrapbooks and the like, not plan for global domination) things together, and I show up at the appropriate time, and she's not here. This sucks. At least i get to raid the cupboards and use her internet ;) I'm really enjoying my holidays too. Tomorrow is the uberfest of watching all of the extended versions of Lord of the Rings, with breaks for food and Doctor Who (-standing- Hi, my name is Andi and I'm a sci-fi/fanatsyaholic). But I am not alone to watch them all...at least there will be some human contact involved, not sitting alone in a dark room by myself watching geek-tv, lets not re-live puberty. Now I'm beginning to see why mum's not here... Current Mood: lonelyCurrent Music: Mum's cookoo clock striking 12 | | Tuesday, September 20th, 2005 | | 4:42 pm |
Harry Potter
This should work, I hope. Just watched the preview for the new Harry Potter movie (there are a few of them, two of which I had already seen, but a new one that wasn't released here at all). Got them both from www.imdb.com very useful! Now the new movie is directed by Mike Newell, who has directed a great many things such as Four Weddings and a Funeral, Donnie Brasco, Mona Lisa Smile, Pushing Tin...the list goes on, but the next movie - HArry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (arguably the worst book of the lot) - will be directed by someone really odd! Looks like they may have thought to make it the worst film of the lot as well as the worst book. It's being directed by a guy called David Yates, who seems to be mostly involved in diecting Pilates and exercise videos....yeah I suppose they do move about a lot in this story, but I'm really not convinced. Anyway, the proof will be in the watching. Unfortunately Goblet of Fire will not be directed by someone who can make the interrelationship between Hermione, Harry and Ron nearly as sexually fraught (unlike Alfonso Cuarón). Bugger :( At least Ralph Fiennes is in it, yum :) Current Mood: bitchyCurrent Music: Still not working :( Where do I get mp3s?!? | | 4:36 pm |
Does my picture work? I hope so, I really identify with Hermione, which is sad to admit to I know. I like her strength and tenacity. Current Mood: anxiousCurrent Music: It's not working...bugger | | 3:20 pm |
Okay, how do I drive this thing?
So I decided that this might be a good idea, I yet may be proven wrong. It's upskilling myself to be able to negotiate this kind of thing without breaking it, or that's what I'm telling myself anyway. I'm sure this thing will have features that I will enjoy, once I figure them out. Right, bombs away :) |
